With all the new faces pulling on the famous blue and white recently I thought id try and give some information about our new boys.
Chey Dunkley:
Chey is a commanding centre half who signed from Wigan as one of our most published signings of the summer. The 28 year old joins on a free as he takes another step up the football pyramid. His impressive form at Athletic helped them gain promotion to the championship in 2018 as well as keeping the club in the second division so he understands the procedure and what kind of performances are needed to stay in the league.
Our new number 23 joins on a contract ending in 2022.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru:
A young lad who joins us from the academy of Manchester City. He has already shown many strengths with the minutes he’s played for the owls already with his strength and work rate being key aspects of his game. Another piece of smart business from the owls as the young man also joins on a free.
Being only 19 years of age there is still a lot of improving for him to do but with the guidance of the senior players in the squad then Wednesday could have a very good player on their hands. The midfielder will wear the number 17 in the blue and white.
Josh Windass:
A player who really really shone on his loan at Wednesday during the 2019/20 campaign has re-signed with the owls on a permanent deal. With two starts from two and a goal and a assist already to his name we may see the 26 year old forward make a name for himself at Hillsborough. Another player to have signed from Wigan but this time for around 500k if he continues his good form we may see some good value for money.
For Bristol on Sunday we may see him line up alongside Jordan Rhodes to form the partnership that worked so well against Cardiff on the opening day. Hopefully our new number 18 can shine.
Elias Kachunga:
This man is one who has a winning mentality with lots of experience being promoted into the top flight having done it on two occasions with Huddersfield and Paderborn in Germany. He also has experience on the international stage having played for the democratic republic of the Congo. Our new number 45 who scored his first goal in the third round of the Carabao cup against Rochdale looks to be settling back into life in the championship very well. He looks very much in Gary Monks plans having playing in 4 of the opening 5 games of the season.
This could be another piece of impressive business by the owls having brought in another proven player on a free transfer.
Izzy Brown:
My final player to talk a bit about is our only loanee this season in Chelsea midfielder Izzy Brown. This is his seventh loan move having come through Chelsea’s academy, last year he played on loan at Luton who were massive favourites to go down but proved that he has the quality to keep teams in the division. A good start for the 23 year old with an assist already to his name he will be looking to kick on and show the fans why he’s came through Chelsea’s famously deep academy. The attacking midfielder has a lot of flair and will want to prove this in his performances.
