This fourth round tie in the Carabao cup is set to be an interesting one. The owls go into this game having not conceded a single goal all season while Fulham have struggled to impress on their first two premier league games.
On paper this may seem like an even match, however this is the same Fulham side that outclassed many teams in the Championship last season. It would be expected that Wednesday would be looking to continue their recent run of impressive games with a strong starting XI. The game is also followed by an extra rest day as the team don’t play until Sunday. On the other hand, Fulham do not play until Monday so resting players may not be required for them however an extended rest for key players may put them in a better position to face Aston Villa next week. Scott Parkers team may feel like this is an opportunity to gain some momentum to keep their premier league hopes alive.
Last year’s championships top goal scorer Alexander Mitrovic will be looking to get on the scoresheet again having bagged two against Leeds at the weekend. Wednesday will also have their own attacking threat with Josh Windass who has put in two impressive performances across the first two rounds scoring a penalty against Walsall and getting another against Rochdale.
An interesting story could be that we could see former owl loanee Michael Hector face up against his old club. Hector was hailed as a star player during the 2018/19 season in a team that was struggling for points under Jos Luhukay.
To conclude Gary Monks team will be looking to carry on their impressive start to the season against some tough opposition and a win may just keep the momentum going for the owls to continue playing championship football next season.
The winner of tonight’s match will play Brentford in the fifth round.
